The family oil
You will not find it on the market, because it is an artisanal product made in exactly the same way as when Domenico was a child and spent whole days picking olives in his sunny Calabria. “You’d get up at 5 am, and the smell of coffee would be mingled with the smell of fried cod, which mum was preparing for lunch in the country. To tell the truth, being among the olive trees under the September sun and harvesting strictly by hand is tiring work, so the first snack was mid-morning. We ate, enjoyed each other’s company and picked olives every day for a couple of weeks. A ritual, a celebration, a necessity.”
The chef’s tale carries with it all the spirit that is still linked to the extra virgin olive oil of I Due Sud, a unique product that conveys all the passion of southern Italy.
It is an oil with a spicy and decisive aftertaste, made with Carolea and Pennulara olives.
