Emissions and waste
In order to drastically reduce CO2 emissions, the Splendide is equipped with a sophisticated heat pump system that uses the nearby lake water for internal air conditioning, heating the water systems of the building and the pool water. Emissions due to transport have also been reduced thanks to decision to always favour short supply chains where possible, reducing the impact of long journeys both for raw materials and for suppliers and partners. New areas for separate waste disposal have been implemented both behind the scenes of the hotel and in the common areas and rooms.
In the waste sector, on the other hand, over the years recycling has been implemented through specifically equipped areas, and the percentage of paper, glass, used oils, exhausted batteries, aluminium and organic waste recycled or disposed of has increased considerably. With regard to this latter, the Splendide uses anaerobic management technology that converts organic waste into fertiliser that is then used for the cultivation of vegetables. A glass shredding machine and a cardboard packing press were installed which, by reducing the volumes of waste, effectively reduced the journeys of vehicles to the disposal areas, reducing CO2 emissions.
